Actress Malvika Sharma found herself in a tough spot after a reporter in Kerala held his mic towards her, asking whether she liked beef or not. Malvika could not hide the surprise on her face but handled the situation well, telling the reporter that she was a strict vegetarian.

Bollywood actress Malvika was in Kerala for the promotional work of her debut Malayalam movie Khalifa, where she will be appearing alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran.

The netizens found the question a rather insensible one to ask an actress coming from a Hindu Brahmin family.

“Why would a journalist ask her if she ate beef? Will the same journalist ask a Muslim if they ate pork?” These were some of the comments that appeared on the video. Many also blamed the reporter for his poor etiquette, while some others doubted his intentions and said it was not simply an innocent food question.

Malvika, who hails from Maharashtra, is quite popular in the Telugu industry and has previously appeared in films like Red, Nela Ticket, Harom Hara.

It was just days before that another Kerala reporter took a jibe at actress Priya Prakash for wearing a saffron colored dress at a function. The incident led to a big uproar on social media.
