Nivin Pauly’s 51st film gets its leading lady; Rukmini Vasanth makes Malayalam debut

KOCHI: Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly’s 51st film has begun production in Kochi, with the project marking Kannada actress Rukmini Vasanth’s entry into Malayalam cinema. The film’s switch-on ceremony was held in Kochi on August 9.

The yet-to-be-titled film is directed by Nashid Mohamed Famy, who worked as a co-writer with Vipin Das on the 2022 Malayalam film Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey. The project marks the first collaboration between Nivin Pauly and Rukmini Vasanth.

Vasanth, who has appeared in films including Sapta Sagaradaache Ello and Kantara: Chapter 1, will be making her Malayalam debut with the film. Aju Varghese will also be seen in a full-length role alongside Nivin. The film also features Jagadish, Kalaranjini and Ashokan.

The film is being produced by Martin Prakkat under the Martin Prakkat Films banner, Nivin Pauly under Pauly Jr Pictures, and Sibi Chavara and Ranjith Nair under Green Room Productions. Vipin Das and Savin Shah were among those present at the switch-on ceremony in Kochi.

Bablu Aju is the cinematographer, while Kannan Mohan handles the editing. Electronic Kili is composing the music, with Nidhin Nagesh serving as co-writer. Ashik S is the production designer, Ronex Xavier handles makeup and Melvy J is the costume designer.

Shabeer Malavattath is the project designer and Vineeth Vijay is the production controller. Sujith Suresh is the chief associate, while Nitheesh Chandran handles the art department. Boyak is the still photographer. Old Monks is responsible for the designs and Snakeplant LLP for visual promotions. Hains is the PRO. The film will be distributed by Green Room Release.
