NEW DELHI: The court on Sunday released Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, who were detained on Saturday when they came to attend the protests against chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The three were released by the special executive magistrate in Delhi. The release of the CJP leaders were informed by advocate Ratna Singh, the head of CJP's legal department, on social media.
Reports say the court released the three on the condition that they will not do anything that would be considered a breach of peace for one year. The Delhi Police took all three into custody at the airport yesterday, ahead of their planned protests at Jantar Mantar.
The CJP has informed that their protests demanding the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar will continue. With this, restrictions have been tightened in the national capital. The Delhi Police has imposed stringent restrictions to prevent the protests from taking place.
However, the CJP has directed activists to turn any location where the police stop them into their protest site, effectively making it their own Jantar Mantar. CJP leaders said they would address the media at 2 pm today.
