LUCKNOW: A 23-year-old man has been arrested for sexually assaulting his 22-year-old girlfriend at a hotel and later killing her by repeatedly hitting her on the head. The incident took place in Uttar Pradesh's Firozabad. The woman, who worked for a quick-commerce company in Gurugram, was allegedly taken to the hotel while she was on her way home for the Raksha Bandhan holiday.
The incident took place on the accused's birthday. According to police, he took the woman to a hotel after stopping her on the way. Once inside the room, he allegedly took a sexual stimulant before assaulting her. The following day, the accused allegedly tried to assault her again, but she resisted. He then attacked her on the head, killing her. A postmortem examination found that severe head injuries and internal bleeding had caused her death. Police recovered the woman's mobile phone and the sexual stimulant from the accused. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to the crime.
The accused and the woman had studied together until Class 12. The woman later completed a BSc and a nursing course before taking up a job. A case has been registered under sections related to murder, rape and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Police have also launched a search for another 24-year-old man who allegedly helped the accused in the crime.
