AAP leader shot dead in Punjab; four-member team behind act

CHANDIGARH: An Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader was shot dead by a gang of four. He has been identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, aged 45. The murder took place in the main bazaar of Mamdot yesterday evening. The murder was committed on Saturday evening in the main bazaar of Punjab’s Mamdot.

Gopi was attacked while travelling in a car with a 22-year-old Harpreet alias Happy. A four-member team came in another car stopped them on the way and opened fire on the car. Two youths in the car were also seriously injured in the attack.

Although both were rushed to the hospital, Gurpeet Singh had already lost his life. Harpreet was shifted to a private hospital in Ludhiana for better treatment.

The reason for the attack is not clear. The attackers have not been identified yet. Police said that a detailed investigation has been launched into the incident.
