BJP leader’s daughter-in-law found dead at home, case against son

AHMEDABAD: The wife of the son of BJP woman leader in Gujarat was found hanging at home. She has been identified as Nidhi Singh (24), wife of Saurabh Singh, son of Shashi Singh, former vice president of BJP Surat district Mahila Morcha. A case has been registered against Saurabh Singh and his female friend for abetment to suicide.

Nidhi Singh of Muzaffarpur in Bihar, married Saurabh Singh two years ago. Nidhi was found dead on Tuesday evening, but the news was released only now.

When Shashi Singh returned home on Tuesday evening, found her daughter-in-law hanging in the bedroom. No one else was at home at the time of the incident. Shashi Singh then called her husband Sanjay Singh and son Saurabh and informed them about the incident and they informed the police. Nidhi's brother Aditya Kumar, who came to know about the death, filed a complaint with the police.

Aditya told police that Saurabh Singh was having an affair with his female friend and that Nidhi and Saurabh Singh used to fight over this. During postmortem, doctors found a suicide note hidden inside Nidhi's undergarments. Police said Nidhi may have hid the note inside her undergarments to prevent her in-laws from destroying it.
