Private photos surface on social media; Aeronautical engineering student commits suicide

BENGALURU: An aeronautical engineering student committed suicide after her boyfriend leaked their private photos on social media despite her pleas not to do so. Hima, an aeronautical engineering student and a native of Sakleshpur in Hassan district, Karnataka, died in the incident.

It was reported that her former boyfriend, Mohammed Naushad, shared their private photos on social media. This led to the woman going through severe mental stress and humiliation, after which she decided to end her life.

Hima was close with Naushad since her school days. When she went to study in Mangalore, Naushad used to visit her in the city adn the two continued their relationship. Hima’s family soon found out about this and warned her of the consequences.

Soon, Hima started having issues with Naushad and talked out of the relationship. Naushad, agitated over the happenings, leaked their private photos on social media. Hima was shattered, finding that her private photos were now on social media. She pleaded with Naushad to take them down. It is reported that Naushad responded by uploading more of their private photos on social media.

On Wednesday, unable to bear the harassment, Hima consumed poison. She was taken to a hospital in Hassan but died while undergoing treatment on Friday. Hima’s mother filed a complaint with the police against Naushad, saying that he threatened to upload more photos on social media and asked Hima to resume their relationship. Police started an investigation into the case.
