SRINAGAR: The Indian Army has eliminated the main conspirator behind the Pahalgam terror attack. Mohammad Asif, also known as Hashim Musa, a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist, was killed by security forces during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir.
Based on intelligence inputs, security forces launched a search operation in the Palmaidan area of the Yousmarg region last night under the name ‘Operation Korag’. During the operation, the terrorist opened fire at the security forces. The Indian forces retaliated, killing the terrorist in the ensuing encounter. Musa’s death was confirmed early this morning.
Search operations are continuing in the area under the leadership of the security forces and other agencies. The searches are being conducted to determine whether any more terrorists are hiding in the area and to locate any weapons or other materials that may have been stored there.
Four terrorists carried out the attack in Pahalgam. Of them, two were killed by security forces during Operation Mahavedi. Another terrorist was later killed in an encounter in Badgam. With the killing of Hashim Musa yesterday, security forces have now eliminated all the terrorists who carried out the Pahalgam attack.
