PUNE: In a significant development in the murder investigation of Maharashtra-based businessman Ketan Agarwal, the police have revealed that his fiancée, Siya, had secretly married her lover, Chetan Choudhary, four months ago.
Ketan and Siya were engaged in February, and their wedding was scheduled to take place this coming November. However, during this period, Siya and Chetan allegedly solemnised a secret marriage at a registrar's office under the Special Marriage Act. The Pune Rural Police have intensified their efforts to locate and recover the official marriage certificate.
As part of the ongoing probe, investigators are set to record the statements of Chetan’s college friends who signed the marriage register as witnesses. The police are also closely monitoring the friends of both the accused to ascertain if they had any involvement in the matter. Additionally, authorities are investigating whether any intermediaries were paid to facilitate the secret wedding, and Chetan's bank records are currently being scrutinised.
Investigators are also seeking digital evidence and are working to recover a deleted photograph from a private Instagram account, which reportedly showed the couple wearing traditional wedding garlands.
Ketan Agarwal died on June 18 after falling from a rocky cliff at the Lohagad Fort. Following deep suspicions raised by his relatives, the police initiated a detailed investigation, which led to the detention of Siya and Chetan Choudhary a few days later. Both accused are currently in judicial custody.
