Major fire in godown of furniture shop in Pattom, efforts taken to douse flames

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A major fire broke out at the godown stacking mattresses of a furniture shop at Pattom in Thiruvananthapuram. The building stacks the things of the shop ‘Joy Furniture’. The people there informed the fire force after seeing the smoke emanating from the building. The fire force has reached the spot and are trying to douse the flames. The fire is still not under control.

The fire broke out Sunday morning at 10.30 am. The fire first started in the mattresses. Meantime, the cause of the fire is not known. The incident is reported to have caused extensive damages. The fire has spread to the neighbouring building and the people there has been safely evacuated.

Fire units of the fire force are trying to extinguish the fire. If needed, more fire force units will be brought, informed the officials. Meantime, local residents said that a fire had occurred at this place earlier also.
