PM Modi's Vadodara event: All seats booked in one hour, 42,000 on waiting list

VADODARA: For the first time, free registration to attend a public event featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Vadodara was opened through BookMyShow. All available seats were booked within an hour of registration opening, leaving more than 42,000 people on the waiting list. The ‘Namo for Viksit Bharat’ event is being organised by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation, which has partnered with private ticketing platform BookMyShow for the registration process.

Entry to the event will also be managed digitally. Those who register will receive an e-ticket through their BookMyShow accounts. Entry will be allowed after the live QR code on the ticket is scanned.

During his visit to Vadodara, Modi will also launch, inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for development projects worth more than Rs 35,000 crore.

One of the major highlights will be the dedication of three sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, covering a total distance of 326 km, to the nation. With these sections becoming operational, the entire freight corridor will be ready for use.

The corridor has been built at a cost of more than Rs 20,700 crore. It will enable direct freight rail connectivity from northern India to ports, including the Jawaharlal Nehru Port in Mumbai. The project is expected to speed up the movement of export and import cargo, reduce transportation costs and ease congestion on existing railway routes.

Modi will also flag off freight train services from New Sanand, New Makarpura, New Umbergaon and New JNPT. A new passenger train service from Vadodara to Tanda Road will also be launched. These railway projects involve an investment of more than Rs 9,700 crore.

In addition, three highway projects worth around Rs 1,780 crore will be launched. The event will also include Gujarat government development projects worth around Rs 2,600 crore. These include the second phase of Vadodara’s Ring Road, a 110 MW floating solar project at Kadana Dam and a new municipal corporation office.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate housing projects under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and a drinking water supply project covering 11 villages. After his programmes in Vadodara, Modi will travel to Mumbai, where he will inaugurate the Global Fintech Fest 2026. This year’s event will focus on building trusted, interconnected and accessible financial systems through agentic AI, tokenisation and quantum technologies.
