NEW DELHI: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has achieved a major milestone while continuing to carry out critical and high-risk operations across the country. Not a single CRPF personnel lost their life in the past year, despite the force being deployed in sensitive areas such as Jammu and Kashmir, the northeastern states and Maoist-affected regions. This is the first time in 47 years that the force has recorded such an achievement.
The last major loss of life among CRPF personnel was reported on October 30, 2025, when two personnel were killed in a blast in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand.
CRPF Director General G P Singh said modern weapons, equipment and improved training had played a major role in achieving this milestone.
In a post on X, he also credited careful planning, stronger emergency medical facilities and systems to ensure that injured personnel are quickly shifted to medical centres for treatment.
The Central Government had recently announced that there were no longer any Maoist-affected districts in the country. The CRPF played a key role in anti-Maoist operations. At one stage, nearly 50,000 personnel from the force, which has a strength of over three lakh, were deployed exclusively for anti-Maoist operations. However, the operations also came at a heavy cost. Twelve CRPF personnel were killed during anti-Maoist operations in 2024, while eight lost their lives in 2025.
