
MUMBAI: Two people were arrested in Nagpur, Maharashtra, in connection with the sexual assault and forced conversion of a young woman. The Nagpur police took action based on a complaint filed by a 24-year-old woman, the wife of an Air Force officer. The woman alleged she was forced into the relationship, forced to convert, and was a victim of money extortion.
The incident in question took place on February 8, 2025. The accused called the woman to a hotel on the pretext of helping her in a property transaction and drugged her with a drink. The footage was recorded and threatened to extort lakhs of rupees and forcibly convert her to Islam. The complaint also states that the accused took the woman to Kalmeshwar in Nagpur and performed some religious rituals. The incident came to light when the woman confessed to her husband, who had returned home on leave.
Currently, three accused have been identified, while the police arrested two of them. The police received information that the third accused is in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh. The search for him has been intensified. The police said that there is a possibility that more people are involved in the case, and the investigation is progressing in that direction. The police said that digital evidence was seized from the mobile phones of the accused in the incident, and it is being examined in detail. The police said that efforts are ongoing to recover the videos circulating on social media in connection with the incident and to verify their authenticity.
