BENGALURU: A former soldier and his daughter were hacked to death by their relatives reportedly over a property dispute. The horrific incident took place in Belagavi in Karnataka. The deceased have been identified as Rudrappa (67) and his daughter Sasikala (26). Police have arrested Basappa Kundaragi, Sangappa Kundaragi and Sangappa's son Madivala Kundaragi in connection with the murders.
The incident took place inside the Avaradi Gram Panchayat office in Belagavi. Rudrappa and Sasikala had reached the panchayat office to prepare documents related to the division of their property. On learning that they were there, the two brothers and one of their sons arrived at the office and allegedly attacked Rudrappa. Sasikala tried to intervene after seeing her father being attacked. The accused then turned on her and allegedly hacked both of them to death with knives they had brought with them.
According to police, Rudrappa had been involved in a property dispute with his brothers, Basappa and Sangappa. The dispute eventually reached court, which ordered that the property be divided equally. However, Rudrappa had already sold his share and later sought to divide the remaining property into three equal parts. This led to an argument with his brothers. Police suspect that the accused, angered by the dispute, carried out the killings. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
