NEW DELHI: The opposition’s protest demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar is intensifying on the third consecutive day. Following a meeting, opposition leaders are expected to resume their strong protests. Meanwhile, the INDIA bloc is also reportedly planning to meet the President. The Samajwadi Party and Mamata Banerjee are also likely to attend today’s protest.

Students, including Malayalees from several top universities, have arrived to take part in the protests. A march to Raj Ghat is also likely to be held today. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has arranged lunch for MPs at Moti’s Restaurant in Connaught Place, Delhi. Details of today’s protest are expected to become clear after the MPs come out following the lunch.

Congress and opposition MPs are reportedly expected to reach Raj Ghat and pay tributes to Mahatma Gandhi. So, a large contingent of police have been deployed in Raj Ghat.
Meantime, amid intensifying protests, the central government has further strengthened the Z-plus security cover provided to Gyanesh Kumar. Additional personnel have been deployed for his personal security outside his residence and at his office.
