KOLKATA: Police in Kolkata made three men walk through the same locality without shirts after arresting them for allegedly stripping a teenage boy, his father and the boy's friend and forcing them to walk naked on a street. The incident took place in the Khudiram Pally area of Sarsuna. The accused were made to walk through the locality wearing shorts, with ropes tied around their waists.
The arrested men are the girl's father, maternal uncle and elder brother. The incident reportedly took place over a relationship between the teenage boy and the minor girl from their family. Local residents praised the police action, as the accused were taken through the same area where the victims had been publicly humiliated.
The incident that led to the arrests took place on Sunday evening. The 17-year-old boy had visited the girl, who lives under the Sarsuna police station limits, along with his friend. While the two were spending time together, a friend of the girl's maternal uncle allegedly saw the boy kissing her. He then informed the girl's father and maternal uncle.
The two men reportedly reached the spot, took the boys to a house in Khudiram Pally, confined them and assaulted them. The teenage boy's father was later called to the house and beaten as well.
During the incident, the girl's maternal uncle allegedly pointed a gun at them and threatened to kill all three unless the father walked naked on the street along with his son. The victims said they were forced to comply because they feared for their lives.
The three were then made to walk for around 50 metres along a narrow lane outside the house. People in the area recorded the incident on their mobile phones. The incident came to light after the videos circulated on social media.
The complaint also alleges that the victims were beaten with broken glass pieces and forced to walk naked at gunpoint. Police are conducting a detailed investigation into these allegations, including the claim that a firearm was used.
The teenage boy's mother was also allegedly assaulted during the incident. She later underwent a medical examination. Police said they were examining further details of the case.
