ALUVA: Two men have been arrested for allegedly abducting a 15-year-old boy from his home in Kunnathery, assaulting him and inflicting injuries with a blade. A third accused is absconding. The arrested men have been identified as V.M. Munsir, 23, of Kakkanad, and Shajahan, 23, of Aluva. They were arrested by a team led by Aluva Circle Inspector P.M. Shameer.
One of the accused had a dispute with a friend of the boy, who is a native of Kakkanad. The accused reached the boy's house on Saturday afternoon in search of the friend. They allegedly forced the 15-year-old onto a motorcycle and took him to Munsir's house in Peringala, where they assaulted him and inflicted cuts on his body with a blade. The accused later took the boy to Shooting Mala in Edathala, where they allegedly assaulted him again before releasing him. The boy subsequently reached Aluva and lodged a complaint directly at the police station. His mother had also filed a complaint with the Aluva police. The police shifted the boy to Aluva District Hospital for treatment.
On Saturday night, police intercepted two members of the alleged assailant group at a fuel station in Pallikkara, where they had arrived to refuel a vehicle. The accused resisted arrest and allegedly brandished a knife at the police officers. Despite sustaining injuries in the attack, the officers managed to overpower and arrest them.
The first accused is involved in 10 criminal cases, while the second accused has been named in six cases, according to the police. The two have been charged under provisions that carry a maximum punishment of life imprisonment. They were remanded in judicial custody by a court.
Sub-Inspectors Benny Kuriakose and Suresh Kumar, along with Civil Police Officers Mahin Shah Abubacker, Muhammad Shahin and K.M. Manoj, were part of the investigation team.
