PALAKKAD: A 23-year-old youth has been arrested by the Kozhinjampara Police for allegedly carrying out a daylight robbery at the house of an elderly woman at Kozhippara in Palakkad.

The accused identified as Robin barged into the house wearing a mask and gloves. After forcibly entering the residence, he allegedly covered the 70-year-old woman's mouth and threatened her with a knife held to her neck. Terrified by the attack, the woman was unable to resist.

The accused then locked her inside a toilet and proceeded with the theft. The victim was in a state of shock and was unable even to call for help. Investigators identified and arrested the suspect using CCTV footage from the house. After committing the theft, the accused was seen celebrating in front of the CCTV camera.

Police said Robin is also an accused in two cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He had been released in connection with the second POCSO case just 15 days before allegedly committing the robbery.
