THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A new team of officers will investigate the death case of BDS student Nithin Raj. The probe will be led by SP Mohanachandran, and all officers from the previous team are expected to be replaced. Meanwhile, Nithin Raj's family has reacted to the release of Dr Ram, who is an accused in the case.

Nithin's sister Rakhi alleged that Dr Ram was released due to a "collusion" with the police. She claimed that the arrest happened only because of the intervention of the High Court.

"The arrest was just a drama to convince people. In a case that went all the way to the Supreme Court, the accused was given undue consideration. His family members were present there as well. There were serious lapses from the police side. We did not even get proper answers when we asked about the case. We have hope in the new investigation team and believe that we will get justice," Rakhi said.

Allegations had earlier emerged that Dr Ram was released due to serious lapses by the Crime Branch. It was alleged that the accused was not properly informed about the arrest in writing and that there was a delay in informing the Public Prosecutor about the arrest.
