14-year-old boy's suicide in Thiruvananthapuram: 58-year-old arrested in POCSO case

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 58-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the suicide of a 14-year-old boy at Kallara. Police said the accused, a neighbour of the victim, had allegedly sexually abused the child. He has been booked under the POCSO Act.

The Class 9 student was found hanging from the verandah of his house on Friday. The arrest was made based on statements given by two locals.

The witnesses told police that they had seen the accused taking the boy away shortly before the incident. During questioning, the accused allegedly confessed to the crime, police said. According to the police, the boy is believed to have died by suicide after being traumatised by the alleged sexual abuse.
