Man slits wife’s throat in Thiruvananthapuram Parassala; Seriously injured woman under treatment

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A man under the influence of alcohol tried to kill his wife by slitting her throat in Parassala. The victim has been identified as Sunitha of Kuzhakode in Parassala. The police have arrested her husband, Vijaya Premkumar in the incident. The incident happened Saturday night.

Vijaya Premkumar, who came home in an inebriated condition, cut the back of Sunitha’s neck with a knife. The woman, who sustained serious injuries, was admitted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital and was subjected to an emergency surgery.

In his statement to the police, Vijay Premkumar said that during a verbal spat with his wife the other day, he tried to cut her hair, which accidentally caused an injury to her neck.
The actual motive behind the attack is still not clear. Local residents said that Vijaya Premkumar is an alcoholic and that there were regular fights between the two. The police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
