Teachers arrested in Vadakara MDMA case

KOZHIKODE: Police investigating the Vadakara MDMA case have found that the arrested teachers allegedly targeted college students for drug trafficking. Investigators said they have received crucial information in this regard. The probe found that the accused contacted female college students through Instagram and built relationships with them through chats. Police said the drugs were delivered under the guise of a food delivery app.

According to investigators, the accused carried out the transactions in a way that did not raise suspicion. As they were teachers, no one suspected them. Police said the accused also used Zumba classes and the sale of buns as a cover for the drug trade. More details emerged after the arrest of a delivery agent who allegedly supplied drugs through a food delivery app. Police said the three teachers initially started using drugs and later became agents after they could no longer afford their own supply.

The investigation also found that attempts were made to draw more teachers into the drug network. Police said the MDMA was brought to Kozhikode from Bengaluru. The accused had also shared videos of their trips to Bengaluru on Instagram. Investigators said the teachers were working on temporary contracts and earned modest salaries. However, they allegedly led a lavish lifestyle. Police suspect they received commissions for arranging drug deals.

The investigation will also examine how the accused used the money they received. Police will verify whether the money was transferred to other bank accounts or used to purchase property or other assets. The investigation into the teachers began after the arrest of Rizwan in an MDMA case two weeks ago. A special investigation team led by Rural District Police Chief Merin Joseph is probing the case.
