‘I’ve no plans to resign, no differences of opinion with govt,’ says K Jayakumar 

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: K Jayakumar dismissed reports of his resignation from the president’s post of Travancore Devaswom Board. While talking to the media, he said that he would step down only after completing his tenure. He also clarified that he would continue in the post till November 2027.

‘We have no issues with the minister. If there is any issue, we will hold talks and resolve it. There is no need for me to resign. Presently we are busy with matters related to the Sabarimala pilgrimage. The minister’s office has not interfered in our activities.

The reports being circulated are totally baseless. There are no other issues presently. Things are going smoothly. The Sabarimala pilgrimage season is about to begin, and there are many arrangements to be made. If the minister asks for a guard, one can be provided; there is nothing wrong with that. I also have a guard there, who accompanies me whenever I go there. Reports emerge that I have expressed my willingness to resign and that is absolutely false. I have no difference of opinion with the government,’ said K Jayakumar.

Reports had emerged the other day that Travancore Devaswom Board president K Jayakumar had expressed his willingness to resign following repeated criticism from Devaswom Minister K Muraleedharan. It was also reported that he had conveyed his intention to resign to members of the administrative board. Jayakumar now stepped forward denying these reports.
