THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Air Marshal Jasvir Singh Mann has assumed charge as the chief of the Southern Air Command in Thiruvananthapuram. He steps into the role following the retirement of Air Marshal Manish Khanna.
Commissioned into the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force in 1989, Air Marshal Mann holds a graduate degree from the Defence Services Staff College and Higher Air Command, alongside a postgraduate degree from the Royal College of Defence Studies in London.
He is a qualified 'Pilot Attack Instructor' with more than 3,000 hours of flying experience across various aircraft, including the Apache, MiG-21, Jaguar, MiG-29, Sukhoi-30, and Rafale.
Throughout his career, the Air Marshal has held numerous prominent command and staff positions. These include serving as an Air Defence Commander and as a Senior Officer in charge of Administration of a command. At the Air Headquarters, he has previously served as the Assistant Chief of Air Staff Operations and as the Director General (Weapon Systems).
Before his appointment to the Southern Air Command, he was serving as the Senior Air Staff Officer at the Western Air Command. Air Marshal Mann is a recipient of both the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and the Vayu Sena Medal for his exemplary service.
