Self-vending machines at Beverages outlets; customers can choose liquor through touchscreen

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Beverages Corporation (Bevco) is planning to introduce self-vending machines at its outlets to control overcrowding. As a pilot project, a machine will be installed at the super-premium outlet at Vyttila Metro station in Kochi. If the trial is successful, the system will be introduced at premium outlets.

The vending machines will be installed in cooperation with banks. Bottles will be stored inside the machines, and customers can select their preferred liquor using a touchscreen. They can then make the payment through UPI or card. Once the payment is completed, the bottle will be dispensed directly from the machine. The bill will also be issued by the machine. Another option being considered is allowing customers to select their preferred liquor through the machine and collect the bottle from the counter after making the payment.
