THRISSUR: More details emerged about the murder of a woman and her toddler by her husband near Valappad Beach. Information has surfaced concerning domestic disputes between the victim, Vismaya, and her husband, Vijesh. Police investigations indicate that the murders were driven by Vijesh’s suspicions, which led to an increasing rift between the couple.
Vismaya was just 18 when she married lorry driver Vijesh, who was 20 years her senior. Relatives revealed that issues stemming from this age gap existed from the very beginning. After the wedding, Vismaya did not stay at Vijesh’s home for long; instead, she shifted with her mother and brother at her own home in Valappad. Vijesh used to visit her twice a week.
Vismaya brought up the plan to part ways after arguments and fights between the couple turned frequent. However, Vijesh, who was well past his 40s by this time, was apprehensive about the idea and suggested that they sort out issues and live together. There are also rumours that Vismaya was in a close relationship with an ambulance driver whom she met while taking her ailing father to the Medical College Hospital. The two subsequently became close friends.
Vismaya had sought treatment from a mental health professional at a private hospital in Thrissur. Her mother and brother had urged her to move to a ‘Sakhi’ centre—a facility for women that offers services including counselling.
The families of the two approached the police station and requested that Vismaya be moved to a ‘Sakhi’ centre. However, since Vismaya opposed this, the police faced legal hurdles in forcibly sending her to the centre. Both parties left the police station with the understanding that she could continue to reside in her own home without any further conflict.
From the police station, Vijesh and Vismaya went to their home in Valappad. Vismaya’s mother informed the police that there had been no arguments between the couple until they entered their room to sleep. It was past midnight when a commotion was heard coming from the room. Using a sharp blade that had been kept in a cupboard, Vijesh slit the throats of Vismaya and their son, Daksh.
