Coconut falls on chest, bike rider dies in tragic accident

KILIMANOOR: A 47-year-old bike rider died after a coconut fell on him while he was travelling on a motorcycle in Kilimanoor. Saiju (47) of Valupacha, Porunthammon, was killed in the incident. The accident occurred around 8.30 am yesterday near M.G.M. School at Porunthammon on the state highway.

Saiju, a carpenter, was travelling by bike from Karettu towards Kilimanoor when the accident occurred. A coconut fell from a roadside coconut tree onto the road, bounced and hit Saiju on the chest while he was riding.

Saiju immediately stopped the bike by the roadside but soon felt unwell. Though nearby residents rushed him to a private hospital in Kilimanoor, he could not be saved. He is survived by his wife, Athira, and daughter, Aishwarya.
