THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: District Congress Committee member Chenthi Anil was removed from Congress just a day after he staged an unusual protest against the chief minister in the capital city. DCC Chairman N Shaktan initiated the action as per the instructions of KPCC.

Earlier, it was thought that the Congress would suspend Chenthi Anil from the primary membership, but the leadership decided on a stronger response. Earlier, Minister Muraleedhran had criticised Anil's action, blocking the chief minister's convoy.

Before taking action against block general secretary Anil, the matter was seriously evaluated within Congress ranks. Normally, when such action is taken against leaders, a time limit is specified, but in this case, it was not followed.
