THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Congress will suspend District Congress Committee member Chenthi Anil, who was arrested for blocking the Chief Minister's vehicle on Friday. It is reported that action will be taken today itself. The KPCC leadership issued an order in this regard. The leadership assessed it was untoward and inappropriate to protest by blocking the Chief Minister's convoy.
The arrest of DCC member Chenthi Anil was recorded by the Sreekaryam police this morning. He was subjected to a medical examination at the General Hospital this morning. He will be produced in court at 11 am. He was charged with obstructing the Chief Minister's official work, unjustly detaining him, indecent behaviour, and obstructing traffic.
Anil, along with his followers, blocked the convoy in protest against the Chief Minister's decision not to participate in the Chathayam day program to be held in Chenthi yesterday. While he was on his way to participate in the Chathayam program at Sree Narayana Gurukulam in Chempazhanthi, a group led by Congress district leader Chenthi Anil stopped the Chief Minister's vehicle. The Chief Minister reportedly got out of the vehicle and asked Anil to talk politely. However, Anil replied, "What will happen if I don't talk politely?"
Meanwhile, Anil claimed that the Chief Minister had agreed to attend the Chathayam day program in Chenthi months ago.
“Yesterday, police officials came and inspected the place. However, the Chief Minister, who had reached the wedding house in Ulloor, did not attend the program in Chenthi. When the Chief Minister's motorcade was stopped to convince him to attend the event, Satheesan alighted from the vehicle and behaved rudely. The security officials even pushed away a senior leader like Peethambara Kurup,” said Chenthi Anil.
