THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan said strict action would be taken against anyone trying to create an atmosphere of unrest and disrupt the peaceful lives of people.

Satheesan said the Youth Congress protest was against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the BJP, which he alleged was trying to undermine elections in the country.

“Why is the CPM getting upset when the Congress is boldly protesting against the Sangh Parivar?” he asked.

The Chief Minister alleged that Wednesday’s violent incidents in Thiruvananthapuram took place with the knowledge of the CPM leadership. He said the CPM had deliberately planned the move and that SFI activists intentionally provoked the situation.

He also alleged that the Yuva Morcha and the BJP had been trying to disturb the peaceful atmosphere in the state for the past few days.

“Once again, it has been proved that the CPM and the BJP are birds of the same feather,” Satheesan said.
