Cop gambles away Rs 7 lakh collected for uniforms

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A case has been registered against a cop for misappropriating Rs 7 lakh collected from colleagues for uniforms. The Peroorkada police registered the case against the cop identified as Shambu R Krishnan. Shambu is a member of the uniform committee. He lost the money by playing online rummy.

According to the FIR, police recruitment trainees from KAP-3 and KAP-5, under the SAP Battalion, had handed over the money for purchasing uniform materials and stitching. Shambhu collected the money from them and allegedly used it for online gambling. He collected the money by assuring the trainees that it would be deposited with the SAP Dry Canteen and the Wilson Allied Police Uniform Society. Several people transferred money to his number between July 3 and 13. The FIR said that he lost the entire amount through online gambling.
