KALPETTA: Entering its second year, Dr. Moopen's Legacy Scholarship & Fellowships Programme has expanded its annual intake to benefit 45 meritorious and financially challenged students in Kerala. The foundation has added ten seats each to its nursing and pharmacy tracks, distributing the 45 full-tuition scholarships among 5 MBBS students from Dr. Moopen's Medical College, 20 BSc Nursing students from Dr. Moopen's Nursing College, and 20 B.Pharm students from Dr. Moopen's College of Pharmacy. The initiative remains a historic milestone, with Dr. Moopen’s Medical College continuing as the first private medical college in Kerala to offer a 100% tuition fee waiver for eligible MBBS students.

The selection criteria are tailored to recognize both exceptional merit and financial need. For the 5 MBBS scholarships, selection is based solely on merit, requiring a NEET Kerala State Rank under 3000 (2026 intake), permanent residency in Kerala, and a minimum of 75% in Class XII. Meanwhile, the 20 BSc Nursing and 20 B.Pharm candidates are selected based on a combination of academic merit and financial need, requiring a minimum of 75% in Class XII (Science) and an annual family income not exceeding ₹2.5 lakh.

“I am so happy to see Dr. Moopen’s Legacy Scholarship & Fellowships Programme goes beyond funding. This time it creates more opportunities, empowering meritorious and economically challenged students to become the compassionate healthcare professionals our communities need,” said Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder & Chairman, Aster DM Healthcare and Managing Trustee of Dr. Moopen’s Education and Research Foundation.

This initiative builds on Dr. Azad Moopen’s vision of transforming healthcare in underserved regions. Established in 2012 as the first medical college in a hilly, tribal, and backward district of Kerala, Dr. Moopen’s Medical College has nurtured around 900 young doctors and continues to serve as a sustainable medical education hub.

Applications for the 2026 cohort are open now, and prospective students can find detailed eligibility guidelines and apply online through the official portal at https://www.dmscholarship.in/ or call at 8111 888 626.

The press conference was attended by Dr. Moopen’s Medical College Executive Trustee U Basheer, Dr. Moopen’s Medical College Additional Medical Superintendent Dr. Arun Aravind, Dr. Moopen’s Nursing College Principal Prof. Dr. Lida Antony, Dr. Moopen’s College of Pharmacy Principal Prof. Dr. Lal Prasanth M.
