Dr. Azad Moopen meets Kerala CM VD Satheesan; reaffirms Aster’s commitment to Kerala’s Healthcare and Social Development

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder & Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, met V.D. Satheesan, Chief Minister of Kerala, and congratulated him on presenting a progressive and development-oriented Budget focused on strengthening healthcare, education, employment generation, infrastructure, and social development.

During the meeting, Dr. Moopen reaffirmed Aster’s long-term commitment to Kerala and discussed opportunities to further strengthen healthcare infrastructure, medical education, skill development, employment generation, healthcare technology, medical tourism, and charitable initiatives across the State.

Speaking after the meeting, Dr. Azad Moopen said:

Strengthening the Healthcare Infrastructure in Kerala

Following the integration of Aster and Quality Care India (QCIL), the combined healthcare network will operate 11 hospitals in Kerala with 4,575 beds, creating one of the strongest healthcare networks in India and delivering comprehensive tertiary and quaternary care services.

The combined entity plans to invest an additional ₹1,661 crore in Kerala to add 1,315 new beds over the coming years. The Group currently employs more than 18,400 healthcare professionals and is expected to create nearly 7,900 additional jobs, significantly contributing to Kerala’s healthcare capacity and economic growth.

Aster itself plans to add 834 beds in Kerala, including the upcoming 454-bed Aster Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram, further strengthening access to advanced healthcare services in South Kerala.

Aster’s Commitment to Charity and Community Care

Dr. Moopen reiterated Aster’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities through healthcare, education, and social welfare initiatives.

Aster Volunteers played an active role in relief and rehabilitation efforts following the devastating Chooralmala–Mundakkai landslide disaster in Wayanad.

Dr. Moopen also appreciated the support and interest shown by Shri Siddique, Minister of Agriculture community development and rehabilitation initiatives.

Aster’s Cancer Care Initiative – ₹120 Crore CSR Programme

Dr. Moopen highlighted Aster’s landmark ₹120 crore Cancer Care CSR Programme, under which advanced cancer treatment facilities will be established across different parts of India over the next three years.

The first project under this initiative is the installation of a state-of-the-art Linear Accelerator (LINAC) facility in Wayanad, bringing advanced radiation therapy closer to patients from underserved regions. The project is expected to benefit thousands of cancer patients who currently face financial and geographical barriers in accessing treatment.

Dr. Moopen thanked Chief Minister for his focus on strengthening Kerala’s healthcare and social development ecosystem and reiterated Asters commitment to supporting the State’s growth.
