ED officials injured, vehicles attacked, stones pelted during protest; Violence erupts in Bakery Junction

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Enforcement Directorate raid that began at Opposition Leader Pinarayi Vijayan's residences in both Kannur and Thiruvananthapuram has been completed. The ED officials, in their declaration, confirmed finding no incriminating evidence from the house in Kannur. With this, the activists shouted at the ED officials. The raid at the house of Muhammed Riyas in Kozhikode has also been completed.

It is reported that ED officials were injured in the attack. A few of the officials have been taken to the General Hospital, and it is reported that they suffered injuries to their eyes. A driver was also injured in the attack. The three damaged vehicles will be moved to Thampanoor station. It is reported that the Union Home Ministry is taking note of the situation.

In Thiruvananthapuram Bakery junction, CPM workers resorted to violence and shattered the glass of three vehicles carrying ED officials. Police were mere onlookers while CPM leaders failed to control the cadres. cadres, including SFI and DYFI workers, booed at the ED officials while they were coming out of the house.

Meanwhile, Pinarayi Vijayan came out to meet the press and the cadres.

“This is a tactic often used by BJP across the country. Their efforts won’t find success here. The attempt is to destroy the party. It won’t happen until the cadres are all together. Unity is strength,” said Pinarayi Vijayan.

Former minister V. Sivankutty, MLA V. Joy, Anavoor Nagappan, V.K. Prashanth, Bineesh Kodiyeri and many others are participating in the protest.
