Fire breaks out at mattress shop in Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A fire broke out at a mattress shop in Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram, on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred around 1 pm, and the blaze was brought under control by three Fire and Rescue Services units.

An ASHA worker noticed the fire and alerted the Fire and Rescue Services. Local residents said a major fire had broken out at the same location on August 16.

In the earlier incident, a two-storey shed used as a mattress shop was completely destroyed. According to local residents, around 22 Fire and Rescue Services units had been deployed to bring the blaze under control.

The latest fire broke out at the same spot where the remains of the earlier fire had been piled up. Local residents alleged that they had repeatedly asked the owner to remove the debris, but no action was taken.

The previous fire had also caused significant damage to nearby residents. The cause of the fires has not yet been ascertained.
