THRISSUR: The BJP Thrissur south district president A R Sreekumar, accused of hiring goons to assault his wife, has resigned. He submitted his resignation to state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar. His letter cited that many have been thirsting for his blood for the past one year. He also asked to remove him from the post of BJP south district president. The Mathilakam police have registered a case against Sreekumar.
The police have arrested Girish (50) of Perinjanam, hired by Sreekumar to threaten his wife. The first case was registered against Sreekumar on the basis of his wife's complaint for attacking her brutally in the name of questioning his extramarital affairs. Girish had come to the BJP leader's wife's house asking her not to talk to the media regarding the domestic violence complaint. The woman approached the police again following the threat. Girish was then arrested. The sessions court had directed the police not to arrest Sreekumar in the first case.
