Rs 11,800 per hour for Melpathur, Sree Guruvayoorappan auditoriums; Guruvayur Devaswom doubles rental rates

GURUVAYUR: The Guruvayur Devaswom doubled the rental rates for the Melpathur and Sree Guruvayoorappan auditoriums. The new rate is Rs 11,800 per hour. The charges were increased from a base rent of Rs 5,000 plus Rs 900 GST to a base rent of Rs 10,000 plus Rs 1,800 GST. These new rates will come into effect from January 1st. Along with the rates, the duration will also change. The rental period, previously for one and a half hours, has now been reduced to one hour.

Previously, the rental rate was Rs 5,000 for the Melpathur Auditorium and Rs 3,500 for the Sree Guruvayurappan Auditorium. Following the renovation of the Sree Guruvayurappan Auditorium last August, its rental rate was increased to Rs 5,000.

The decision to increase the rent was taken at a meeting of the governing committee held recently. Under the new rates, the cost for a full-day slot will be Rs 1.60 lakh. Organisations and individuals conducting the 'Ekadashi Vilakku' typically host a full day of cultural programs. Since auditoriums can be booked 60 days in advance, bookings for January 1st and 2nd opened on Monday.
