ALAPPUZHA: CPM demanded an investigation into the bribery allegations raised by G Sudhakaran MLA. Sudhakaran had alleged corruption and bribery behind the appointment in Alappuzha Medical College during the previous government. CPM has now demanded a vigilance investigation. Former MLA H Salam directly complained to the Home Minister, raising this issue. The new developments come amidst the worsening rift between CPM and their former comrade G Sudhakaran.
Sudhakaran made the allegation at a function held at Alappuzha Medical College. The MLA said that during the previous government's tenure, 100 people were appointed by accepting a bribe of Rs. 2 lakh. After Sudhakaran raised this issue, H Salam challenged Sudhakaran to file a complaint with the Home Minister and have an investigation conducted.
Sudhakaran had earlier come out against the UDF government's move to start a medical college in Haripad. He had said that there was no need for two government medical colleges in one district. Sudhakaran said that the existing medical college was in a very dilapidated condition and that the 14 proposals he submitted to renovate is yet to receive administrative approval.
Sudhakaran also showed his disapproval over the proposed new medical college in Haripad, which is only 15 km away from Vandanam Medical College. The MLA called the new proposal unnecessary.
