IG Shefin Ahmed dies while undergoing treatment for cancer

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Odisha cadre IPS officer and Malayali IG Shefin Ahmed has passed away. He died while undergoing treatment for cancer at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. He was 50. He was serving as the Inspector General of Odisha Crime Branch.

Shefin Ahmed was the son of Habeeb, a former CITU leader. He graduated in engineering from the College of Engineering Trivandrum (CET). He joined the civil services in 2003 and was appointed as an IPS officer in the Odisha cadre. He began his career as an Assistant Superintendent of Police. He had also received awards for his initiatives and campaigns related to cybersecurity.
