Hands and legs tied; Woman's body found floating in Kayamkulam backwaters, murder suspected

ALAPPUZHA: A woman's body with both hands and legs tied was found in the backwaters of Kayamkulam. The body of 80-year-old Thankamma, who went missing two days ago, was found at Kanakakunnu. It is doubtful that the body was dumped in the river after tying it with a stone. The police are investigating a murder angle in the crime.

This morning, fishermen who entered the waters found the body floating. The police were immediately alerted. Thankamma lived alone at home. The cause of death will be clarified only after the postmortem.

Thankamma has a son and a daughter, both of them married and now living in different houses. Thankamma’s daughter had come home yesterday after neighbours reported her missing. She then filed a complaint with the police. The body was found this morning while the police were investigating the missing case.
