Kerala rains: Holiday declared for educational institutions in various districts tomorrow

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the wake of the ongoing heavy rains, a holiday was declared for educational institutions in Pathanamthitta, Malappuram, Thrissur, Kottayam, Alappuzha and Kozhikode districts tomorrow (Tuesday). Educational institutions operating relief camps in three taluks in Kannur and in Idukki and Wayanad will also be closed tomorrow. The district collector said that the holiday was declared in Pathanamthitta due to the heavy rains and the flood-affected camps operating in schools.

Malappuram

As heavy rain continues in the district, District Collector Dr Vinay Goyal declared a holiday for all educational institutions, including professional colleges, tomorrow. Madrasas, tuition centres, and Anganwadis will also be closed. However, there will be no change in the scheduled university and PSC exams.

Kozhikode

Due to heavy rains and the possibility of more rain in the hilly areas of Kozhikode district, the Collector declared a holiday for all educational institutions, including schools, madrasas, tuition centres, professional colleges, and Anganwadis, in the district on Tuesday. The holiday does not apply to conducting online classes.

Alappuzha

A holiday has been declared for all educational institutions, including professional colleges in Alappuzha district. The holiday will also apply to Anganwadis and tuition centres. The holiday is due to the overflowing of water bodies and the functioning of relief camps in many schools.

Kannur

There will be a holiday for educational institutions in Payyannur, Taliparamba and Iritty taluks in Kannur district. The holiday will not apply to professional colleges operating as relief camps in these places. Meanwhile, the holiday will apply to institutions including tuition centres and madrasas. There will be no change in the pre-scheduled university/public examinations and interviews.

Idukki

The District Collector declared a holiday for educational institutions operating as relief camps in the district until the day the camp ends. The Collector ordered that the heads of educational institutions take steps to make up for the lost study time due to the holiday, including by conducting online classes.

Wayanad

The Collector announced that educational institutions operating as relief camps in Wayanad district will have a holiday tomorrow.
