Onam celebrations in Poojappura jail turns violent, leaving one employee injured

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A clash broke out among the jail employees during Onam celebrations held on the premises of Poojappura Central Jail in Thiruvananthapuram. The incident happened last night during Onam celebrations organized by the jail subordinate officers’ association. Employees from Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Pathanamthitta had participated in the celebrations.

A dispute that broke out ended in a clash after some employees entered the stage and tried to sing and dance amidst a DJ party organised as part of the Onam celebrations. Reports say that Sreejith, an official of Attingal sub jail, sustained an eye injury and that he has been admitted at a private hospital. There are also reports that some employees were under the influence of alcohol.

However, no case has been registered as no one has filed a complaint even hours after the incident. It is heard that the issue was settled after holding talks with them.
