
KOZHIKODE: As part of efforts to strengthen the fight against drugs, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala met religious leaders and requested their support for the campaign ‘Operation Toofan- The Narco Hunt’. He also presented them with a ‘Toofan Warriors’ badge.
He visited leaders of different religious groups and urged them to join the anti-drug campaign. The leaders include Samastha (EK faction) president Muhammad Jifri Muthukkoya Thangal, Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama general secretary Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker Musliyar, Thamarassery Diocese Bishop Remigius Maria Paul Inchananiyil, and Kasyapa Ashram head M.R. Rajesh.
The minister first visited the Samastha office and gave the badge to Muhammad Jifri Muthukkoya Thangal. Samastha announced its support for the government’s anti-drug efforts. It also said that special awareness messages against drugs will be delivered in mosques after Friday prayers. Later, the minister visited Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker Musliyar at Markaz. He assured cooperation from Samastha institutions, including Markaz.
He also visited Bishop Remigius Inchananiyil at the Bishop’s House and presented the badge. The Bishop said that anti-drug messages will be shared in all churches. The minister then met Kasyapa Ashram head M.R. Rajesh and gave him the badge as well.
Will send letters to CMs of neighbouring states
Chennithala said that Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan will send letters to the Chief Ministers of three neighbouring states regarding Operation Toofan. Action will also be taken at the DGP level with police chiefs of other states.
