THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast rain in Kerala over the next five days. Yellow alerts are in effect for Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts on the 30th; for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Palakkad, and Malappuram districts on October 1st; and for Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, and Wayanad districts on the 2nd. Isolated heavy rainfall is predicted. "Heavy rain" is defined as rainfall ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm within 24 hours.
IMD predicted rain with thunderstorms and strong winds (speeds of 30–40 km/h) in isolated areas of Kerala from tomorrow (29/09/2026) until October 1st. Additionally, the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has warned of potential sea surges along the Kerala coast until 11:30 PM tonight (28/09/2026) due to high waves ranging from 0.4 to 1.0 meters, caused by the 'Kallakkadal' (swell surge) phenomenon.
