IMD predicts rain and strong winds in 10 districts in coming hours

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Isolated rain is likely in various districts in the state in the coming hours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that there is a possibility of moderate rain and strong winds up to 40 kmph at isolated places in Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod; light rain and strong winds up to 40 kmph at isolated places in other districts.

Along with this, the National Oceanographic Research Centre has informed that there is a possibility of waves up to 2.8 to 3.0 meters high and sea erosion on the coasts of Kannur and Kasaragod till 11.30 pm tonight. Fishermen and coastal residents in these areas should exercise special caution.


As the sea is likely to become rough, people should move away from the danger zones as per the instructions of the authorities. The warning also states that launching small boats and yachts into the sea should be avoided during this time.
