KOCHI: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) detailing a high-value sponsorship for the family get-together of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) has surfaced, sparking intense discussions within the film fraternity. The document reveals that the Vennala Mahadeva Temple, headed by controversial intermediary 'Dalal' Nandakumar as its chairman, is the primary sponsor of the event.
According to the leaked agreement, the temple management committed a total financial backing of ₹75 lakhs for the star organisation's gathering. The formal contract was signed by the actor and AMMA official Cuckoo Parameswaran alongside Nandakumar. The financial terms stipulated a two-tranche disbursement model, under which the temple has already released an advance payment of ₹30 lakhs to the association.
The disclosure has also brought internal friction within AMMA’s leadership to light. Reports indicate that executive committee member and actress Ansiba Hassan strongly opposed the financial tie-up during a recent leadership meeting. However, overriding her objections, the executive committee ultimately voted in favour of accepting the lucrative sponsorship package with a majority backing.
