KOLLAM: A forgotten wilderness in Kollam shocked the natives after a dead body of a 32-year-old lady was recovered under dubious conditions. The body was found naked and was approximately six days old with wounds seen on the head and other parts. Two wounds are said to be deep.

The naked body lay in a secluded spot near the railway quarters adjacent to Fathima Sana national college. The dead has been identified as Uma Prasannan. Forensics and fingerprint experts have taken the required samples and the preliminary report points to murder.

The deceased, a door-to-door sales girl selling cosmetic goods was reported missing after her mother approached Kundara police station asking for her daughter’s whereabouts. On Tuesday, a foul smell emanated from the premise forced the nearby walkers to approach the east police station, only to find out a dead naked body tangled in creepers.

The deceased's mobile phone helped confirm the location. Her husband died two years ago and now she leaves her two children.
