KANNUR: A migrant worker was arrested for sexually molesting a five-year-old girl in Panur. The Panur police arrested Azad, a native of Uttarakhand, from Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. He was a construction worker based in Panur.
According to the complaint, the accused, who came to the house to ask for water, molested the child while her mother went inside the kitchen. When the mother returned, the incident came to her attention, and she created a commotion. Azad then fled the scene while the locals chased him.
The child’s mother then filed a complaint at the Panur police station. Since the residents were familiar with the accused, the police started an investigation focusing on his photo. During the investigation, the police received information that Azad had reached the Thalassery railway station. It was also clear that he had boarded a train and gone home. Then, with the help of the railway police, the police examined the CCTV footage at various railway stations.
Meanwhile, the police received news that Azad had landed in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. Finding the accused was a challenge as he had left his mobile phone behind. Subsequently, the Panur police reached Ratnagiri and arrested Azad during an investigation. The police said that they will take the accused to Panur and take further action.
