THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After a long period of uncertainty, a private secretary was appointed to Minister Bindhu Krishna. Chief Minister VD Satheesan permitted the appointment of CS Sarath Chandran, recommended by the minister. The other day, the Chief Minister had met with AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal. Sarath Chandran is a special secretary in the secretariat and is very close to KC Venugopal.

The Chief Minister gave his approval after three months of receiving a request for the appointment of Sarath Chandran as PS. The minister had suggested his name after taking the oath and even moved the request through her office. However, the chief minister did not accept the request. The decision on the PS was made after the CM's previous day's Delhi trip. Sarath Chandran was KC Venugopal's PA during his time as MLA. He was also on the personal staff when KC Venugopal became a Tourism Minister. The Chief Minister's office pointed out the letter from leaders of pro-Congress organisations in the secretariat as having caused the delay in the appointment.
