Moving KSRTC bus catches fire; front portion completely gutted

PALAKKAD: A moving KSRTC bus caught fire in Pattambi early Tuesday morning at 4.30 am. A major tragedy was averted as the driver stopped the bus after noticing the fire spreading.

The bus that caught fire was heading towards Kottayam from Perinthalmanna. The driver noticed the fire on the front of the bus when it reached Pattambi. He immediately stopped the bus and asked the passengers on board to get off. The accident happened when the passengers were asleep.

The front portion of the bus has been completely gutted in the fire. No casualties have been reported. Short circuit is suspected to be the cause of the accident.
